In this issue:

  • News from Southbank Theatre: call for scripts + auditions

  • Table reads! Your next step after Scene Nights.

  • Upcoming shows featuring IPC members & friends

IPC actor Alaine Sims (L) with IPC member and our July large group meeting guest artist, Paige Scott (R), at the January 2024 meeting.

Register now: IPC’s next large group meeting. Sunday, July 14 at the University of Indianapolis Studio Theatre. Featuring:

  •  Dr. Grant Williams, Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of Indianapolis, who'll discuss UIndy's theatre programs and how local playwrights can take advantage of university offerings.

  • Indy's own Paige Scott. Paige is an actor, singer, playwright, composer/lyricist, director, and performance artist. Her recent collaboration with KT Peterson, Razor Creek, was featured in the Iowa New Plays Workshop. Most notably, her Bronte-based musical J. Eyre was voted "Best Original Work" by Broadway World Indianapolis in 2018 and has been produced nationally. Paige will share her origin story and offer pearls of wisdom for the aspiring playwright.

  • A writing exercise.

  • Plus, as always, there'll be time for networking and fun with our stellar community of local theatre artists. (Also: snacks. Because we love snacks.) Everyone is welcome! Please RSVP via Eventbrite.

From our groovalicious colleagues at Southbank Theatre Company:

Table Reads! Or: OK, So I Did Scene Nights…Now What?

You’ve had your pages read at Scene Nights. You’ve got a good working draft of a one-act or full-length play. Consider a table read as your next step! At a table read, you can hear your entire work read aloud in one sitting, and invite guests to provide feedback. All in the same supportive IPC atmosphere as you’ll find at Scene Nights. For details, please email Table Reads Coordinator Mary Karty at [email protected] or the whole IPC team at [email protected]

UPCOMING SHOWS involving IPC members & friends:

Catalyst Repertory presents M. – A New Play by Tristan Ross. June 21-July 7. Produced by IPC member Casey Ross. IndyFringe.

The Fourth Wall Players present Tartuffe. Directed by IPC friend Josh Gibson. July 12-21. Stage Door Theatre.

IPC member Elizabeth Young-Collins stars in her original show A History Tour Hijacked at this summer’s Fringe festivals in Kansas City, MO; Minneapolis; and at home in Indy.
